    They actually used a headhunter to help assist with getting applicants for this position and that is how I came about applying. Pretty quickly after I sent all of my documents to the headhunter I was scheduled for my first interview. It was very in-depth and we discussed the pros and cons of the position and all of my education and professional experience. About a week later they had my headhunter call me and set up another phone interview. Very short notice. Even the person interviewing me was a little annoyed with the fact that it was scheduled with such short notice. However the 2nd phone interview I felt was just as benifical for me because the interviewer really was straight forward & honest about the position and the future outlook. We again went over all my experience which is 17+ years. I enjoyed the 2nd interview the most. About 2 days after that interview they said I had made it to one of the top applicants and they wanted to fly me out for a face to face Interview. At this point the Leica Biosystems HR department was contacting me directly. Again very short notice. They called me on a Thursday and wanted me there the first part of the following week. They handled booking my flight and they booked the absolute worst flight times and connections which really were not necessary. However I didn’t say a word because I was really interested in the position. I finally got to the interview and they interviewed me for about an hour. It seemed to go very smoothly and they said to my face that they liked all my answers etc. I leave and fly back home the same day. I get an email less than 48 hours later stating that while they really were impressed with my experience they decided to go with another candidate who had more related experience. Well now frankly they knew that prior to me coming and taking a day off of work, spending money to get there outside of the flight they paid for, when all along they could have done that mess on some Skype! Very disappointed!! However, I have to say if I could get through the interview process I think I would really have enjoyed and rocked that position. But it truly is their loss.
