    Pluspunten

    Engineering collega's zijn goed, toegewijd aan het maken van producten van goede kwaliteit. Een goede verscheidenheid aan technische velden om uit te kiezen. Een redelijke openheid voor laterale beweging tussen groepen, als men hun expertise wil uitbreiden. Enkele mogelijkheden tot reizen in het buitenland

    Minpunten

    Slechte beloningen voor goed werk. Doe je werk goed en je krijgt op je kop. En management vraagt nog waarom ze slecht scoren op 'betrokkenheid'. Een opvatting gebaseerd op klassen wat betreft het verdelen van de winst gecreëerd door werknemers. Werknemers in engineering hebben geen vertrouwen in het topmanagement

    Pluspunten

    The company has several different business lines and lobbying competences, that seem to guarantee survive in the medium to long term. The sophia antipolis site looks solid today. For the south france it is probably one of the few big companies left to work on microelectronics. Good CE.

    Minpunten

    Top management is very financially driven, and this reflects in employees activities. There seems to be a lack of focus, and in general a multiplication of similar projects that overload the employees without often resulting in technical advances. Very little research and much of the work is actually development. However due to the nature of the business, occasionally it seems some interesting development happen:... still just a minority of the employees have chances to be involved. Despite a wide variety of activities of the site, transition from one workplace to another does not seem encouraged, which makes personal development possibilities limited.

    Big company with somewhat reasonable market share in some areas.

    Minpunten

    This used to be Motorola and later became Freescale. This group focuses on PMICs for automotive but it's really struggling to keep up with the new competition from strong PM companies jumping in on the automotive bandwagon. None, zero of the nice and good technical people from the old days remain here. Only a few of the very unkind people who never wanted to leave still remain here. Upper management severely... lacking in technical knowledge. Higher levels staffed with folks with no significant prior experience in analog or power management, with awful personalities and lacking tact. Managers that only care about their own bottom line and the bottom line of their friends, favorites or those in their inner circle or clique. Roadmaps that do not make sense, are outdated and lack focus. Poorly planned projects with unrealistic specifications/schedules. Chaotic project execution. Awful cutthroat politics. Tons of back stabbing, gossiping, finger pointing and scapegoating. Poor communication, blind-sighting and intentional stonewalling. Lots of secretiveness and managers constantly leaving people out on purpose. Coercive management style. Undermining and obstructionist behavior from management. Severe lack of trust on employees. Fear of conflict and poor or non-existing conflict resolution. Severe lack of appreciation for people's contributions or merits. Unwillingness to give credit when credit is due. No clear path for career development or no access. No open access for everyone to chose a career path based on merits. Non-stop microaggressions. Disturbing cliques between folks based on personal reasons and preferences. Unequal treatment based on factors that should have nothing to do with work. Unequal opportunities for growth based on factors that should have nothing to do with work. Excessive and counterproductive internal competition. Difficult collaboration. Lots of visible division based on shared ethnicity, origin, backgrounds and other unprofessional factors. No desire from HR or management to seriously address any employee concerns relating to work environment issues. Concerns and complaints are dismissed and swept under the rug. NOT recommended for anyone who is serious about doing good work on interesting stuff. This place is stuck at fixing and tweaking older designs. You may end up just running simulations for your manager's favorite employees. NOT recommended for those seeking to expand his/her career. The people at the top are very entrenched and the politics for promotions are very cutthroat down to the very bottom. NOT recommended for those seeking a nice and friendly work environment to do good work while having fun. This place is toxic.

    NXP Semiconductors has a very supportive work environment. As a contract employee, I was quite satisfied with the response and support that my colleagues had given me and I would love to work for NXP Semiconductors in the future. Unfortunately, my contract was not extended due to the budget cut and merger between NXP Semiconductors and Freescale Semiconductor in 2016.

    I had such a great time while I was working at NXP Semiconductors. The only thing that I don't feel good about is the way the company hiring policies have been conducted. They only wanted to hire some employees through a temporary contract via agencies. This made working for long term at NXP Semiconductors, very difficult, especially for the new employee.

    NXP Semiconductors should consider to hire new employees in the long term basis and not through agencies. This hiring policies could eventually diminish any chances for NXP Semiconductors to spot and keep great employees who want to work for long term, that eventually will lead to lost of potential great talents in the future.

    Co-workers are very competent and friendly. Everyone gets along very well and we genuinely enjoy working with each other. Great camaraderie.

    Minpunten

    Upper management cooks up crazy, unattainable, and flat out bad ideas and plans. When their ignorant and impossible ideas do not happen according to their schedule, they behave completely unprofessionally for a week or so, then take action against (fire) some folks who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - usually four or so worker bees get canned per stupid idea. But this works well for management... because when the fact that the schedule will be missed becomes obvious to them (everyone else knew that the Titanic had already hit the iceberg from day one -sorry Leo), they miraculously have an epiphany realizing that their original ideas were incredibly stupid. So by roasting the lucky four scapegoats at the stake, management can shift the blame onto others, and come out unscathed. Lots and lots of politics and even more CYA. To change subjects... as a non-management employee, when you hit fifty you suddenly have a target on your back. That target gets bigger each year. Any minor "personnel action" is used to can those with the biggest targets. Back room personnel "shenanigans" take place to justify the "actions". It's so sad and disgusting to see it happen over and over again. Management and Personnel's ethics are in the dirt. Ruthless.

    Bad communication between teams, confusing specifications from top. Projects may sometimes be given to people who already have their hands full, haltering your and your team's career progress, making the environment overly competitive.

    Confusing orders make your team lose competitiveness, which decrease the amount of projects you'll be given. It is important to have better communication and procedures.
