Pluspunten

This is a mission-driven company. Their mission is to make every home in Australia sustainable. That's the main reason to join. Remote-first company. Generous maternity leave.

Minpunten

Brighte was an innovative technology-driven company until May'2022. Then, then laid off massive amount of people and slashed projects. The grand plans of changing the world are gone. It is not just another financial company going through a challenging time and fighting for survival. Technology platform is ageing, and there is no clear strategy to replace or improve it.

Pluspunten

The people are genuinely friendly and hardworking, which creates a positive team environment. The company also runs regular social events, and the office space is modern and enjoyable to work in.

Minpunten

There’s a lot contributing to the current sentiment within the business. There appears to be an inherent distrust among staff toward leadership, primarily driven by frequent redundancies and restructures. This becomes apparent very quickly after joining Brighte, with many employees feeling uncertain about future direction changes and effectively operating with an “exit plan” in mind. Projects are also frequently deprioritised or dropped altogether due to constantly shifting priorities. As a result, the business is perceived as highly reactive rather than proactive, which creates instability and makes it difficult for teams to maintain momentum or long-term focus. The company is operating extremely lean from a staffing perspective. When someone leaves, there is often little to no coverage available, resulting in remaining staff having to absorb the responsibilities of multiple roles. Compensation is another recurring concern. Salaries are perceived as below market rates, bonuses are effectively non-existent, and salary reviews are often viewed as underwhelming relative to workload and expectations. The CEO really has no idea what’s going on and is seen as a puppet, propped up by her leadership team.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in this level of detail. The people and the environment at Brighte is something we're genuinely proud of and we're glad that came through for you. Brighte, like many businesses in this space, is navigating a period of significant change. Prioritisation decisions, structural shifts, and resourcing pressures are real, and we know they have a direct impact on the day-to-day experience of our team. On compensation, we benchmark regularly and use that process to ensure alignment across individual roles, within teams, and across the broader business. Our goal is that remuneration reflects the role, the contribution, and the market. Where gaps are identified, we work to address them quickly. Appreciation doesn't always come with an announcement but that doesn't mean it isn't there. The people who show up, do the work, and contribute without needing the spotlight are seen, and that matters to us. On the CEO, Katherine is across the business, hands-on, and accountable for where Brighte is going - the framing in your review isn't one we recognise. Thanks again for taking the time. We'll take your feedback on board as we continue to build our culture at Brighte.
