No bad things to report

Started out with virtually zero development experience. I was fresh out of school. The pay was not as important to me as the opportunity to get my hands on something real. Anything was better than working at Starbucks. If you are truly passionate about technology then without a doubt, this is the perfect place to get your foot in the door of the tech industry. I am moving on with less than 2 years to a Senior position with another company. It wouldn't be possible without Composite Apps. In General: - Very flat organization, great for beginning or aspiring developers (I was a Theatre major) - Awesome group of people, it truly feels like home - There are times when you will need to step up, this is your opportunity--seize it, own it. - You may travel the world (I went to Europe and Dubai several times and trained the Dubai Police with a web application that I made) - Generous and fearless leadership with years of experience and wisdom--soak it up You will do well here if you are: - Disciplined - Dependable - Determined - Perceptive - Know how to collaborate (like in theatre!) - Customer-oriented - A Natural-born leader - Adaptive to office dynamics - Relentlessly Curious - Willing to work overtime to develop your hard skills (I was never asked to, but that's how you do it) - Know not take criticisms and critiques personally - Can be told "No" and handle it with grace - Can explain technical issues to non-technical people - Cautiously optimistic about what you are told - Don't play blame games or jump on bandwagons if something doesn't go right

You will not do well here if you are: - Hesitant to admit you don't know something - Unwilling to ask questions - Lacking of basic computer science knowledge - Don't know how to read documentation from software vendors/maintainers - Do not think strategically - Wait to be told what to do - Not an active listener - Compare your abilities to others - Don't like to push yourself to submit work that is the best you can do - Don't support your peers when you see them struggling - Don't speak up when you know there is a better way - Cannot advocate for yourself or defend your ideas - Assume you don't need to explain your choices - Hide behind another person's mistake - Afraid to confront strong personalities or competing interests
