Pluspunten

The work itself was easy.

Minpunten

The owners are difficult to work for. They are a husband-wife team, with the wife treating the CSR with disrespect, and the husband taking his wife's side without an eye to the facts. Additionally, the wife doesn't do her job; after she comes in around 10 AM, or leaves at 2 PM to go shopping, she makes the CSR do all of her insurance renewals (including online underwriting research that is supposed to be done by licensed insurance professionals only), and then merely signs the paperwork and collects all of the commission. One day after walking in late from getting her hair done during business hours, she actually had the gall to ask me how I managed to get my personal errands done on the 8:30 AM - 5 PM hours she set for me. I responded with, "on the weekend."

Pluspunten

Very friendly bosses, flexible hours (asked me which hours were most convenient for me to work with my sons schedule), gave me multiple days off when either my son or I were sick, gives raises or bonuses every 6 months to a year if they are earned, takes employees to lunch several times a month. Even after quitting the job to have more time with my son, I've stayed very friendly with them and we still meet for lunch from time to time.

Minpunten

One challenge to working for a small business is that it can be quiet and less boisterous so if you are the type of personality where you like a lot of commotion, this is not the job for you. Office can be pretty quiet during working hours. The other challenge to working here or frankly some of my other jobs are dealing with my co-workers. I have found that people of my generation are so entitled. And I got pretty sick of hearing my co-worker complain about things that were ridiculous. For example, I'm pretty sure the other review on this site is from said employee and how ridiculous is it to complain that your boss (the person paying you), got her hair done one day during business hours or left work by 2pm? Frankly, that rarely would ever happen when I was there. The husband and wife wake up early and start answering emails (i know because I would receive emails from them at 6 am sometimes) and they also stayed at the office later than me most days. So I'm not sure what my former co-worker was referring to. Regardless, it isn't really my place to tell my bosses when they can show up or leave their office. As long as I get my paycheck, I'm happy. Second, my bosses took me and the other employees out to lunch approx once a week and I have never been treated that well at any other job I've had. Bottom line, I never felt uncomfortable doing any of the work they asked me to do. I never had to do anything that only a licensed agent was supposed to do, nor did any other employee while i worked there (over 2 years). I wish our generation would grow up and learn that a real "big girl job" requires discipline and an ability to follow directions and take instruction from the people who are paying us. I found I learned a great deal by actually listening instead of griping & complaining all day long.
