Dear Former Employee, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Admittedly, this one has been very hard to process ever since it was posted quite some time ago. All I can say is that I am sorry you had a bad experience working with us. Based on the timeline of your review, it seems you were with us pretty soon after our transition from being a garage bakery, and it was a challenging time to say the least. I am happy that you found community amongst your coworkers. That is a great feature of working at Proof. Proof has team members from all walks of life. I want to unequivocally state that we do not discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, or race as your comment might imply. Rather, at Proof we are committed to our work of making great bread and pastries for the community. Many bakeries and kitchens are filled with minorities. Both Amanda and I are children of immigrants and we love any opportunity to learn from team members who come from different backgrounds. In fact, we believe that food is a bridge for people coming together from many walks of life. Proof has a nice balance of men and women represented at all levels of the company. Our first ever promoted manager was female, and women have been leading within Proof ever since. Amanda and I are equal partners, and the company could not be where it is today without her unique perspective certainly in ways informed by her identity. Proof has collaborative, positive and productive relationships with our city and county government. I’m not sure if that is what you mean by weird, but we strive for Proof to be a welcoming environment for all who wish to share in our values in bread-making. If you were led to believe anything different in your time, please don’t hesitate to reach out so we can have a direct clarifying conversation and you can be fully heard. I must admit that Proof has a number of flaws. Specifically, during the time that you were employed we were going through dramatic changes, and this absolutely led to more disconnect between us and our staff than we wanted. Perhaps this led to some of the misunderstanding that led to your judgment. I would love an opportunity to sit down and conduct an exit interview despite the fact that some time has passed. We don’t want anyone at Proof to feel this way, and I would like to get to the bottom of what we may have done to contribute to your sentiment. Again, I have been deeply troubled to read about your takeaways in working at Proof. They do not match with out intention for the company.
