SCC deserves a five-star rating, but the boards refusal to address a business-critical issue leaves them vulnerable and failing. One department within SCC has been responsible for the loss or removal of an average of one person per month during the three years its ‘leader’ has been in post – one person even left the same day they started. Its team buckles under the dictatorship of an egotistical megalomaniac with a single agenda, to take a group director role. The consequences of supporting the business instead of this goal are severe and everyone is considered expendable. Although foot-stamping tantrums are commonplace, there is a magically transformation into Mr Charisma when the need arises to win over those of influence. Although it is voiced that the department should be run like an agency, it is clear no one has a clue how to achieve this or how agencies operate. So the beaten-up team wait to see which of them will be the next victim whilst an oblivious board continue to be seduced and convinced into believing the department head possesses some form of ability. Where there is a complete failure to communicate, lead, or give any direction, total continual departmental chaos reigns. A refusal, or incapability to run campaigns means nothing is ever achieved and absolutely no responsibility for every catastrophic action is taken. Instead, anyone or everyone is blamed for forewarned blunders and sole credit taken for the team’s successes. Despite being a liability to the business, those with the skill to convince the board their team are idiots rather than accept they alone are out of their depth, remain in post.
