Pluspunten
There are not many positives to speak of this place of employment, except for the people. While there, I got along with every single person who was employeed by Timberlane, except for the owner of the company.
Minpunten
Where to begin? 1. Cell Phone Policy - While employed there the owner of the company initiated a cell phone policy, as if we were in high school. We weren't allowed to use our cell phones during the time of work for any reason unless of an emergency. Are we adults at work or children in high school? 2. Expected to Stay - If you were a salary employee, you were EXPECTED to stay over the 8 hours worked. No Ifs Ans or Buts. That means, you were looked down upon if you left at 5pm. Even if you were a sales man, and you sold 100k that day (who work on a small salary and commission), you are expected to work past 5pm. Most employees work out of fear there, not because they are overwhelmed with work, but because they are afraid to leave due to the reactions of the boss. 3. Control Freak CEO - Let's see, had cameras installed outside so he could see when employees were walking in and when they were walking out. If you clocked in a minute late you are reprimanded after (5) times. His office overlooks the parking lot, so as if seeing through his window wasn't enough, an accessible camera app was installed so he can view it even if he is not at work. He also feels the need to be involved with every portion of the business (as a CEO should), but isn't totally educated on all aspects of the business and doesn't take upper management's considerations into action. He also doesn't let his upper management perform their work without breathing down their necks and criticizing them every step of the way. If he would listen to his own team and what they have to offer, instead of focusing on simply what his CEO Peer Group Buddies say, Timberlane has potential. 4. No Sense of Family - Oh, you know the term, "Family Comes First," yeah not here... Since the owner has no sense of family life - you must use PTO if your child is sick, or if you have to leave early to go get your child from school, or if you have a family emergency. 5. Mind Games - CEO plays mind games with his employees. He says one thing and does another, almost like he doesn't practice what he preaches. He is super serious about time, yet he is late when he shows up. He is adamant about professional work attire, yet wears jeans with periwinkle suede shoes. He expresses how important it is to be involved with a team, yet he is an outsider because everybody is too afraid to do the wrong thing and walks on egg shells due to the bipolar attitude that is expressed and has been experienced by many. 6. Doesn't value employees. Period. Doesn't value his upper management or the abilities they have either. 7. Expected to be in the office every, single, day but while I was there I don't think the CEO worked a full week. He would just come and go as he pleased, but don't worry if you left early, he knew. You were expected to be there, even if you could work from home.
