Price of the cliquet, combination of forward start options, is dependent on the asset price at the forward date. This means we don't know the strike price hence volatility. These are known on the forward, kick-in, date. The trader exposes forward skew so slope and convexity of the skew have a significant effect on pricing. We know that IV of far date option is almos flat because skewness and kurtosis both decay with maturity.
