Yogurt Kitchen is a Belgian start-up that develops innovative and creative zero-waste yogurt concepts for hotels, organic stores, espresso bars en healthy quick-service restaurants. Yogurt Kitchen’s main goal is to reinvent the way we eat yogurt, transforming the usual into a more enjoyable, surprizing and sustainable experience.

Founded in 2020, the start-up is headquartered in Belgium and develops carefully designed yogurt dispensers and creative topping concepts. The yogurt comes from multiple local partner-producers. Yogurt Kitchen enables those small batch craft-producers (both rural and urban) in delivering qualitative, natural and organic yogurt, both cow-milk based as vegan alternatives.

In 2021, the first dispenser prototypes hit the market, and currently more than a handful of early adopting clients are enjoying the solution and delivering promising results.

The role

We are looking for a passionate person in engineering (mechanic, electronic) to drive the process from prototype to large series production going through all in-between steps. You will be based in Brussels and will be in charge of the hardware part. You will be in close contact with the founders, with external engineering companies and surrounding experts to help you move forward.

You will oversee the shift from our first existing and working prototype to a second version with new features making a real difference in the finishing and adding true value to the customers. This means, building a prototype of this “V2” and preparing for a first small series production, keeping in mind that a large-batch production will follow afterwards.

What you’ll be doing

Owner of the product development of the dispenser, this means:

• Short term: drawing and building of the V2 prototype and then set-up a first, small batch production; prospect potential producers, suppliers and assembly partners
• Mid-term: prepare for large batch production; prospect potential producers or assemblers and suppliers for larger quantities
• Seek for better alternatives to the current suppliers where needed for better quality
• Coordination of external engineers, management of interns for the work that can/should be delegated to speed up the development process
• Owner at all times of product quality
• Set-up of quality control of dispensers, and certifications
• Regular follow-up on the field

Required profile

• Dynamic, rigorous, entrepreneurial and assertive person with a can-do attitude
• Neat and disciplined work, with special attention to detail and solving problems well
• Sociable, with ability to easily connect and build bridges between people and organizations. In other words: comfortable both on the production floor, at the design table and in the boardroom
• Able to talk and write in French, Dutch or English. Two of them or all three is a plus.
• Experience in R&D and production of hardware; has already gone through the process from prototype to series-production. But above all, willing to learn, experiment, fail and succeed!
