AIG is a large company with many opportunities. Getting your foot in the door is a good start to understanding the corporate environment and culture of the company. Departments are actually typically small with limited room for advancement but moving to other business units presents a much larger set of opportunities or you can use your experience for an external move.

Although AIG is large, the separate operating companies fail to take advantage of the company's size and scale with many profit centers working in a siloed environment and each reinventing similar business processes and technology improvements.
