I've been a liability adjuster 4 years. my supervisor is laid back and doesn't micromanage & is super chill about having to leave for a Dr appointment or school meeting. As long as I have made up the time missed, she doesn't really mind -this is not the case for all supervisors, it's hit or miss with each one here. We get a decent PTO to begin with immediately and have the chance to buy an additional five days however these are accrued 100% remote with no obligation to travel or go in office ever if we don't want, which I don't.

the workload is insane. it's not manageable in an 8hr period. the people they praise for their amazing metrics are working 10-12+ hour days and weekends. can't tell you how many times I log in in the am to see team chat messages from people still logged in at 11pm, midnight, trying to catch up. I used to work an extra hour or two or on weekends until I realized I was spending too much time "at work" even though I was at home. The reward here for hard work is more work. changes are constant as companies need to grow and keep up with competition but they have been rolling out too many, too fast, and a lot without proper training. even the supervisors will say, we'll figure it out as we work it because they aren't always informed of changes in processes. they need to hire way more adjusters. we constantly lose more than half of each starting class of new hires before their training is even over. probably because they realize the goals and metrics are unrealistic.
