Pluspunten

You have a job to survive the high cost of living in the Bay area. Some really nice people. It used to be very nice place to work before they had a massive hiring spree a while back. A good place for H1B workers to get a sponsorship.

Minpunten

It seems like hiring vacuum sucked in a lot of dirt. People brought their friends and families. I personally know one manger who hired two incompetent girls who were his family friends. Some bad apples have left Lab126 and have joined Google through their friends. HR used to be nice but lately they have people from other countries who can hardly speak English and have no understanding of the American culture. There is a lot of bullying goes on by managers. It seems like some of the X Apple directors brought bullying with them from Apple. Also there are way too many program managers than the engineers. Feedback system is all messed up. Anyone can give a negative feedback on you even though you never worked with them. Feedback system is often used to settle scores.

Ownership culture at the team level — engineers are often trusted to drive complex cross-layer initiatives. Good exposure to platform systems, device-to-cloud integration, and large fleet operations.

Minpunten

Over the past few years, frequent leadership changes and repeated organizational reorgs created uncertainty in long-term technical direction. Compared to earlier years, there are fewer net-new greenfield initiatives, with more focus on sustaining and maintaining legacy programs. Shifting priorities and evolving reporting structures can make roadmap continuity and long-term architectural planning more challenging.
