Atomic Learning was started by a small group of teachers, and the culture they instilled certainly carries on almost 15 years later. This isn't a shoehorn company. While Atomic Learning isn't a large company, and direct promotional paths don't exist for every position, both skill set and salary growth are vigorously encouraged and supported. Atomic Learning is located in a small-ish city, meaning the majority of employees either travel 20-40 minutes each way, or work remotely as a matter of course. This means vehicle and time costs are incurred. That said, traffic congestion and safety aren't much of a concern due to lightly-traveled roadways. Dining options and other local amenities are somewhat sparse.
