Pluspunten

I speak more to the Compuware portion of BMC, which was recently acquired by BMC and through which most employees operated out of Detroit. I enjoyed the working culture and everyone I talked to was smart. It's a solid company to work for with very understanding managers, especially if you have a passion for low-level assembly code or hardware systems built on this.

Minpunten

There could be some improvements on communication between some of upper management and lower management. One instance in specific sticks out to me where large firings occurred to clear house and the company meeting we were told everything is looking great,, profits are up, etc., which felt a bit like a slap in the face to anyone who knew that 3 or 4 teams had just been gutted completely. On the other hand, I understand that if the same labor can be found cheaper, then economically makes sense to pursue that track. For this reason, I cannot justify lowering my rating more than 1 star because at its core it was a prudent business decision (although there are valid criticisms otherwise.. mainly that product expertise has been lost as a trade for lower salaries). In any event, this is definitely something to consider. While generally stable, these things can (and have) happened.

They hardly ever fire anyone. Comp plan is terrible. You get paid on Opportunities sources but there isn't any criteria written down on what makes a discovery call turn into an opportunity. Leading them to cherry-pick deals and choose if you get paid or not. They don't have product market fit. The entire new logo space didn't close anything last year. Getting placed in a good, high paying seat is all dependent upon nepotism. No clear path for growth. Constantly moving the goal post and changing promotion criteria. The promotion path leads you to a role that has historically not closed a deal and the role is a huge pay cut for some BDR's leading to high churn or career BDR's.
