Diverse projects and multi-national employees

Minpunten

- Doesn't pay the last pay after resignation - The owner wants you to work 24 hours a day - Very rude and unprofessional management - The owner is not cooperative and when something goes wrong, he will shame you in front of all employees in a company call

Hello there! I was a bit surprised reading through this review. I've no idea whom I talk to (which I understand to be the point) but given the accusations within this review I'd be keen to hear directly from you to see the basis for such. I want to address the bigger point around your review: the non payment of last salary. As far as I'm aware everyone that left the company was paid in accordance with our standard professional agreements. You also mention "us" implying this is more than one case. I welcome (and incentivise, actually) you to come forward and email black@colorelephant.com with info that can help us assess what wasn't paid and should have been. In any such case, my email is always the same so reaching out should be the first pathway to resolve whatever is (or seems) unresolved. I appreciate your contact. As you can imagine, if this was a true systemic approach (not paying last salaries) this site would be full of such reports. To address the rest of the review: I am extremely sorry and disappointed that you feel this way around your experience with us. I'll promptly admit I am sure I not always did things the right way. The thing with managing a company and dozens of people, dozens of clients and a bootstrapped runway is that you not always get the time or attention span to do it the way you should. I always incentivised, though, open criticism and feedback and with very little exceptions I never heard this kind of feedback. If I was ever rude, please know it was not intentional and I sincerely apologise this was the feeling you were left with. I'll respectfully disagree with the last point — as any project manager will tell you, I've always been the one showing up and taking the heat from clients, even when errors were very much avoidable from developers on our team. But yes — as explained and re-inforced with our updated values looking together at failures and respectfully discussing them is something we openly do as a way of improving. I have a ton to learn and look forward for feedback such as this to keep on learning. And although I disagree bluntly with some of the things said, I can only feel defeat in the fact that were not able to create an environment that would make you feel otherwise. Please reach out at any point !

Pluspunten

Having more than 10 years of professional experience in different spheres and almost 4 year in IT as a Project Manager I can truly call ColorElephant one of the best companies I ever worked. Among the pros: 1. Human attitude. Friendly, positive, happy, professional experience. 2. Management support with daily PM routines and challenges (technical details, staff provision and client urgent/non-urgent requests). I mean really support. 3. Working remotely, which I truly value because I have a dog I don't want to leave alone for at least 10 hours each day. 4. Company that appreciates both seasoned professionals and raising talents. Great opportunity to learn from smart people and get inspired by ambitious devs. 5. Challenging and non-trivial projects that won't let me get bored. 6. Great efforts from the management to guide the company forward and explain future plans on monthly company status call.

Minpunten

There are cons in any job (I think they are typical across all IT companies and PM): 1. For project management it is the intense work load across multiple projects so you have to have a good memory to ease your professional life. 2. Urgent work outside working hours. Luckily if projects are in a good state it doesn't happen too often. 3. Resourcing of people: the devs who shown their worth are moved to new and exciting projects (or existing and large) and sometimes for smaller things like sites under maintenance I need to wait for a fresh person or one that is unfamiliar with the details.
