Where to begin. I looked at a few of the reviews to see if there is an objective account of Edelman, and despite everyone experiencing their working life there differently, I'm shocked to see glowing reviews. As every lunchtime chat, drink after work, exit interview is always mainly negative. I'll distill this down into a few main points I think are valid if you're toying with going there, it's based from several accounts of people I know who have worked/still work there and some myself. - Want a promotion? Then play the political game. Working hard, will not be rewarded. You will be scrutinised on a personal level – not professional – and held against spurious claims, management are always looking for excuses to hold you back financially and regarding your career. But they will promote their already top heavy senior managers with no questions asked. Recently a senior member (who is bad mouthed by everyone beneath them for being useless) has been promoted again. Respect doesn't buy you a boat, but playing the game seems to. - Want to make good work? Go elsewhere The "creative" leaders have found a place where they can do the bare minimum but get paid a lot. They are uninspiring, tired, and lacking in any enthusiasm to make notable work. But they will jump at the first chance ridicule work made elsewhere. - What about the culture? There isn't one Apart from the blame culture where to get ahead would be to cover your back. It's the classic toxic PR company. There is bullying, misogyny, a whole load of back stabbing. Everyone is bad mouthing everyone else, with no real agenda other than trying to belittle others to make themselves look good. Again, it's a not a place where work does the talking. You need to spin your own story. You'll be lied to, gaslighted, and met with faux-sincerity as you try and build a career under a management team who only care about themselves, despite claims that they care about you. Hard to change the behaviour of a team and company who are bizarrely turning a profit despite a negative view of them by the workforce. But, If they offer you big money, take it, it's an easy way to earn it. The building is full of people who have no idea what they're doing and they're getting paid a lot for it, so it's easy to look good if you're happy to act that way. But it's easy to be trapped there. I've heard other companies laugh at CVs of people who worked at Edelman because you're not equipped with the skills to go elsewhere.
