Pluspunten

It's a high energy and supportive culture that feels motivating to skilled people who are committed to doing good work. Serious, yet fun technical problems to solve. Pretty good balance of ambitious effort without being unrealistic about what can actually get done. Having smart colleagues helps too.

Minpunten

Personally, I appreciate the amount of internal communication but could seem excessive to some. A bunch of the negative reviews here seem like the low performers that don't last long. I also appreciate that but could seem pretty relentless if you can't keep up.

The low pay was the first red flag, but former employees told me they believed compensation decisions reflected a desire to conserve cash while the company pursued profitability. The turnover was another red flag but given there appear to be almost no upward trajectory in most departments, it was easy to ignore as well. What became clear after working there was the lack of clarity and communication internally. Feedback shifted drastically with little to no real reason. Requests to WFH or FTO were approved until inconvenient. Management would pressure employees to change personal commitments as a result. When the decision to fire someone was made by senior leadership, little could be done to reverse course - even proof of positive performance, documented changes in performance, or an employee volunteering for a PIP. In my case, I was let go shortly after one of the busiest marketing periods, which left me with the impression that my role was retained until that work was complete. It’s clear that in their efforts to be profitable, the company cycles between cutting staff and contractors and investing in them month over month which leads to a lack of institutional knowledge and lack of stability. A previous review that has mysteriously disappeared said it best, leadership “makes hiring and firing decisions like they’re picking what to have for lunch.”
