Minpunten
Where do I start? When I was hired I was honest and made sure they knew this was my first office position. The manager wasted no time in getting into the habit of ALWAYS talking down to me. She nit picked everything I did. The training was abysmal. Almost from the start I was put on a performance improvement plan (pip). ( Part of my pip included a reprimand for using the rest room too many times one day, not being allowed to take 2 - 15 min breaks like everyone else and being forced to keep my winter coat by the entry door rarely used because I'm a smoker and although I wash my winter coat frequently I was told my coat smelled bad) I would get in trouble for asking questions. (Yes when I got stuck and asked a question of a fellow co worker who had trained me the manager came by to reprimand me for the question I asked 30 mins later) On top of that my immediate supervisor would always "trim' my hours. If I came in 10 mins early she would change my entry to arrived exactly on time. I was given unpaid tasks that had to be completed BEFORE I arrived for work (example pick up donuts from a specific bakery for a meeting on my way into work) If I ran late because I was completing tasks for the company the immediate supervisor would edit my clock in time to reflect that I was late. I offered to assist a sales rep with a project - but wasn't told a key piece of information so all my work was wasted and the sales rep still had to do the work correctly. Instead of counseling me about it or even trying to get to the bottom of what happened (so I could improve) she told me point blank EVERYONE in the office thought I was too stupid to assist with tasks so no one wanted to allow me to help them anymore. I finally was able to get off the PIP just in time to notify her I had secured a new job and would be leaving. I am seriously considering therapy because I STILL struggle to ask questions at all my subsequent positions.
