Pluspunten

PROS: laid back work experience (kinda), good pay for part time, good experience (kinda). You are nothing more than a shadower and help around the office. Very little important responsibilities where the office depends on you. I've called off so many times due to sickness, homework, or just not feeling like going Lol, and my bosses will just say "cool, see you tomorrow" when i shoot them that text that i wont make it in. Making 18-20 an hour working very little hours, (12-20 hours) a week is very nice. When I say "kinda" for good experience, it all bounces back to what this company actually does for college kids. Pretty much nothing. As a supply chain management major who wanted to transition into sales, there were many days where I would walk in and have no idea what my tasks were and my two managers had no idea where to put me, so they would make me do some random task like put stock away then maybe go on the road with someone for two hours then chill out on my phone until my shift was over.

You will not learn anything important from this job. You are nothing more than a shadower and extra help. You learn more about how this company functions on a day-to-day basis only and nothing else. Also apparently, the full time job pay at this place is bad.

Good job to have during college. People are easy going and easy to get along with. Overall really good experience

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
