      Pluspunten

      I have had the most fun time in fal.ai since I've been working. We are now a 6 person team that is tackling how to make very accessible Python tools to data people. The fact that we are building part of the company in open source also means we get to interact with customers a lot and learn their use cases to improve the product. The team is super friendly and everyone is in a different city of the world, so ther's almost always someone online. The team has met in person.

      Remote work can be lonely and you have to make a habit of reaching out when you are having doubts on how to proceed in some work.

      - A lot of resources to burn whenever you want, H100s, GB200s, whatever. Leave a cluster running for a whole month, no one bats an eye - A lot of autonomy, no one really reaches out to tell you anything or figure out what you're working on

      Minpunten

      - Random requests for projects to be completed with unrealistic expectations - Pushing "to be the best" and "cracked" but the leads telling you of their own magnificence can't seem to solve any of the problems, for example, it's not really clear why the head of eng is the head of eng - Never really felt like the leadership or leads were capable of truly valuing their employees, they just care about the bottom line, which is money - It felt like customers' resources were viewed as dispensible, even when a customer had modest budget and could not afford the project
