Pluspunten

Let me begin by saying - literally almost anyone can get a job here at any given time. It's almost easier than getting a job at Wendy's. Once you get in, work really hard there for a solid year and you have a good chance at earning a promotion and/or becoming full-time. However, even without a promotion the part-time package handlers will still become eligible to earn earn paid vacation, paid holidays, paid tuition, health insurance, dental insurance, vision isurance, 401K, and a minimum of five pay raises within that first year. When I applied originally starting pay was $9.38/hr and currently make $11.23/hr after about 1 year and 3 months. I've also been offered the opportunity to become a truck yard switcher which is what I have currently been doing since February and it's significaly better than loading/unloading in my opinion. At least for me, learning a skill like this was worth the wait and hopefully my future career opportunities don't end here.

Minpunten

I gave it three stars for a reason. If you are reading this and your thought process goes something like this, "I've loaded packages into a trailor before. How much harder can it be at FedEx?" You need a reality check and maybe applying for the job is the best way to get it. I know that's what I thought originally and actually working at FedEx as a package handler for several months gave me the reality check I apparently needed. I'm in good shape physically and work out/exercise on a very regular basis but the work environment is hellish for loaders/unloaders regardless of your physical shape. It's extremely loud at all times because of heavy machinery, really dusty, and usually either really hot or really cold because there isn't any climate control inside the hub. Most of the time you will be placed in a trailor by yourself for many hours and if you don't go fast enough several of the managers and load coaches can be huge jerks and act as if loading packeges is the U.S. Army or something and you are merely scum that's in the way. Turnover rate is sky-high, which is why it is always so easy to get a job here. I see hoards of new guys walking in seemingly every week - honestly. Most people don't quit because the work is too hard or because they are incapaple of doing it, they quit because the amount of work required simply isn't worth the nearly $10.00/hr you earn. This may sound crazy to some but that's just how it is in all entry level jobs that require no education. If our starting pay (which is currently $9.73/hr) was even a dollar less only crazy people would do this job. Maybe I'm crazy? I'm still employed with FedEx Ground but am currently looking for a new job as a truck yard switcher. Although, it's a much better alternative to loading or unloading FedEx really under pays us. As I've said, my pay is 11.23/hr. Average pay for a full-time switcher at virtually any other company is around 15.00/hr (typically with fewer benefits). This is my honest review, I hope it helped at least one person out there!

Minpunten

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
