There are a number of straight up bullies in management. One regional manager would say horrible things about me in the next office over, knowing I could hear her. They don’t have any grace and prove to you that you are just a number to them. They typically hire from outside instead of within, and the turnover rate is insane for these reasons. They make you do things to check a box and incentivize pushing products on people who may not need them. I have reason to sue and consider it daily.
