Excluding management, there are great smart people who do the real work

- Building is in awful shape. Stained carpet, broken faucets, bugs and rats. Company spent a great deal of money “rebranding” to Flooid, but employees are still working in awful conditions. - Horrible and out of touch management. - HR team is nicknamed “Human Remains” by all of the employees. Company HR doesn’t care about the people one bit. - Old technology and the product doesn’t work properly. - Management lie to customers and to the employees.

Whilst it great to hear how much you value your employees, we’re disappointed to hear that working for Flooid has been the worst experience of your professional career. We know the office environment is poor which is why we’re currently in the process of redecorating, painting and replacing the carpet. We’re making good progress and expect to have the main work completed by the end of 2020. We’re sad that your perception of HR is so poor and would welcome the opportunity to understand your views on this – please come and speak to us. We must disagree with the comment you have made about management telling lies to customers as this is not the case. Openness, honesty and transparency are important to us and we try to work with our customers to achieve the best results for all concerned; it is never our intention to deceive our customers and we believe the number of long-standing customers we have is indicative of the positive relationships we build.

Salary is very competitive as is the flexibility in work location. Since current CEO took over, the committment to SAAS contracts has helped even out the once bumpy financial cycles. Diane Palmquist has guided the company out of a turbulent time and set us on a more sustainable path. Explicit career paths are being introduced to provide clear paths of advancement. It remains to be seen how those are implemented, but the fact that they are trying means something. The give-back committee has been a great addition to provide ways of giving back to the community. I plan to become more involved in this. Also, this company values a diverse population: racial, religious, sexual orientation...all are welcome. This is not just a company value but it's mine and my collegues as well. WE are the company we keep. Many reviews for software companies here on Glassdoor unfortunately stop there, but I'd like to add a bit about the software design side. The architecture of the software is improving as well. Staying closely aligned to Base Product was once a difficult task as many features demanded by customers were often added on top of a packaged release, with little thought to how that feature would fit as our Product advanced. Even if a feature wasn't fit for Base Product, or if implementing it in Product would take too long, we'd still implement it for that Customer. While this makes the customer happy, it made it hard to maintain and upgrade later. While that has yet to be completely eliminated, it is much less frequent and the company is more willing to communicate the value in waiting or doing things another way, to our customers. There is more effort in getting to the next version of product to get a new feature. There's still a long way to go, as upgrading is still too painful, but the monolithic application structure is fading away to a more modular and independently releasable one. This should enable the database underneath to become more modular as well, which should then allow for much more flexibility in deployments as well as upgrading as a more regular process. Even the POS is getting a facelift (with Micro-frontend modules) and a tummy-tuck (with a State Manager rewrite). Eric Bilange has lead the way with several great ideas and some key engineers have done some great work in these spaces. There are some great technical minds at work here.

Minpunten

The economics of global software development with a company based in the UK, often meant that US-based positions are rare and positions are usually only open if it cannot be filled by someone from the UK. Either because proximity to a US customer for a particular position was important, or because UK resources are cheaper. The overriding mentality seemed to be that US resources are too expensive, so we'll only hire them when we have no other choice. This was short-sighted and hopefully now that Flooid is part of Glory's International Business arm, this will begin to fade away as well. (Part of why I'm writing this review, actually)

I know Christy and/or Erinlee would love to discuss your feedback on recruitment in the US one on one, if you'd be happy to please reach out to them. We value our US colleagues highly and Flooid considers the most appropriate region for the role not the financial implication as the first factor. Of the new roles planned into FY 2025 over 40% are North America based and of the roles we've recruited since Jan 2024 40% were hired into North America.

Unlimited PTO, Competitive pay (higher base pay, lower bonus structure if any, though) Flexibility to work 100% remote or in the office, software has been around for 25+ years and has stood the test of time, yet continues to evolve, Open and honest management, not perfect but they lead with honesty and integrity.

Minpunten

Communication in some ways still a weakness, other ways (town halls in which finances are discussed giving employees a good picture of the financial state of the company) a strength. No formal bonus structure Still a "lean" organization structure, so the few are asked to do a lot
