You may be interested in practicing law, but upper management is more interested in check boxes, paper pushing, and arbitrary metrics (that change daily). There is almost no advancement opportunity within staff counsel, maybe once every ten years somebody gets promoted. Hurray! There are constant metrics and audits. If you fall behind or do not meet the metrics, you are on thin ice and can be very quickly looking at termination. The employee turn over seems high. The employee moral seems always very low, in heavy part thanks to management. The management seems to thrive on employee fear and job insecurity. Some attorneys quit after they get fed up. The turnover overwhelms the rest of the team.
