The good thing about a startup like GenTwo: You move, fail, and learn fast. I learned that GenTwo is not for coasters. It's for rolloercoasters. It's for those who want to go all in. We are growing fast. That's good (not always, see cons below). There are downs and ups. With more of the latter. GenTwo was not my first startup, So I'm used to this. First-rounders struggle, but learn and adapt fast. I joined two years ago. The CEO is a crazy powerhouse. Great guy, with a huge vision. Very motivating. Very caring for others. Gets lost in too many things. The Chairman is a bright and smart industry veteran. He's very operational, knows the details. The leadership team is okay. Lots of changes last year. Not diverse. The new guys brought more structure into startup chaos. I get shares of the company so this is also my company. I think everybody has shares, except the new colleaugues. Of course there could be more shares. And there could always be more salary. But as said, you get to learn much more than at my former place. Lot's of happy clients, at least those with whom I work. Many clients have been with the company since the beginning. I like my team. Great guys. Lots of humor. You can bring the dog. We have a few. Lots of great moments and party with the team: Skiweekend is legendary, karaoke night, XMAS party. Now we have a great terrace with a tent. We do BBQ and events up there. Great place to hang out in the summer. Also we have many clients come to our place to do their events. Champagne bell rings on Friday, 5pm. And we have an own big event (Asset Rush) in Kaufleuten once a year.I have family, so I cant' hang out so much.
Minpunten
This is the messy part: Lots of jumping around. Too many loose ends. Too many things chased. Gets tiring after a while. Decisions seem very opportunistic. Not at a client service level. There we do our job with not much changes. But from the direction of the company there are many changes. If you want to keep up with the changes, you need some kind of way of handling this to maintain your energy level. I see some colleagues having a hard time with this. The company got funding it was two years ago. A lot happened. More talent came in. But also lots of talent got moved out. They call this talent density. I see improvements. I'm still here, so I must be some kind of an a talent myself ;-). Biggest problem: We're a fintech. On the inside it's taking long to become get to a scaling. I'm not a techie. But I see things moving faster now. Marketing keeps pushing the "scalability" story. But we're just not there yet. Our AI data team are helping a lot to make this scaling happen. I like the guys a lot. I am confident, that our vision will come true. Just not as fast as it says on the powerpoint slides. Final call: It's a startup. It can get very hot. If you don't like heat, you shouldn't get into the GenTwo kitchen. If you can take it, it's great.
