Pluspunten

Fun environment, great staff, flexible hours, unique industry, great management team, nice owner, and the management teams actually listens to their staff

Minpunten

it's a small business so when someone doesn't do their share/load then it's left to other to carry them. That being said, most of those people have either been let go or have walked on their own and the current team is running better than every with less staff. So a CON but not a CON

Pluspunten

This is the best place I've worked at and it's 100% because of the people. The people here genuinely care about one another and work hard to help one another out. This is a growing small business and over the past few years it's greatly improved. If you're reading this, all the people who have given negative reviews are individuals who don't work hard and had management come down on them after multiple meetings to improve before finally being let go.

Minpunten

The only real con I can say is the industry itself, there are sometime long hours and phone calls on the weekends

A decent option for a 'just out of school' job and a good way to get your foot in the door in the exhibit industry. Mid-level management is usually open to new ideas and processes, even if upper-level management isn’t. GVC has many talented and creative individuals, and it was truly a privilege to work with most of the team.

Minpunten

Extremely high turnover. Last year’s team is rarely this year’s team, which means a lot of project and client knowledge gets lost when people leave. Record keeping has gotten better over the past few years, but it’s still far from perfect. Digital organization isn’t great either, as upper management often chooses cost cutting file storage solutions that aren’t ideal. Turnover is not helped by frequent layoffs. During my employment, we had layoffs atleast between 1-2 times per year. No room for career advancement. Responsibilities will keep increasing, but pay generally stays the same. Upper management may dangle a raise as a “carrot on a stick,” but you probably won’t actually see it. The line “it’s a small business” is frequently used to deflect questions about promised pay increases. Make sure any promises from management are in writing. Management accountability is weak. Upper management struggles to admit mistakes and often shifts blame to the rest of the team. There have been multiple instances where major projects were mishandled because of decisions made without informing the full team, or because outdated information was passed along, resulting in confusion, errors, and last-minute scrambling.
