      Working with a ton of smart, driven people encourages you to do your best Witnessing one core piece of technology be applied to thousands of different problems is fascinating Learning how all facets of a startup work and how to figure things out for yourself Gaining autonomy and responsibility quickly as you prove yourself Every employee gets equity and therefore has a vested interest in the company's success Santa Barbara!! There is no better place in the world to be doing what we're doing. Nice and far away from the Silly Valley scene, and being able to do a beach run or ocean swim at lunch is priceless. Contrary to what most people first think of the town, there's actually great nightlife and tons to do, especially if you like the outdoors.

      Asking questions sometimes feels discouraged. There is definitely a tension between asking your boss how to do something and figuring it out for yourself, but as you become more familiar with the company, the quality and depth of your questions will increase, reducing that feeling considerably Work-life balance: the hours are long and work is life but it's the price you have to be willing to pay to build a company like the one we're building

We’re sorry to hear that you sometimes feel that asking questions is discouraged, we never want that to be the case. We absolutely welcome questions — some of our best ideas have come from simple questions that sparked ideas and led to company-wide initiatives. Definitely ask questions and if you ever feel discouraged moving forward, I encourage you to anonymously ask questions using TinyPulse, our anonymous employee feedback system, or chat with your manager (or their manager!) about the best way to balance asking questions and figuring things out for yourself moving forward.

      A lot of companies brag about being a "meritocracy" - a place where promotions and success are purely dictated by your merit without the influence of any political factors, favoritism, etc. In my experience, this is a truly rare environment to find but FindTheBest has it. If you are hard working and ambitious, this company allows you to grow your own career as fast you can handle. After only working at FindTheBest for a few years I was been put in situations that someone with my age and experience would never get to experience at other places. The culture is super fun and energetic, Santa Barbara is a beautiful city, etc. but for me it's the trust and responsibility that the leaders of the company place in younger employees hands that makes working at FindTheBest truly satisfying and unique.

      Being an ambitious, young start-up means that people are expected to work fast and hard. This means that there are times when you will be expected to work more than 8 hours a day if you want to do well. The hours you work are totally up to you, and face time is not at all required or looked at, but if you want to do well you're going to have to put in the work which can sometimes mean getting in early and staying late to prove yourself.
