Pluspunten

Extremely fast-paced, impressive list of clients, aggressive with new business opportunities, fantastic onboarding process, and the agency seems to embrace new technology and tools. D & I initiatives are definitely a focus and are prioritized on multiple fronts. Cool office spaces and locations.

Minpunten

Work/life balance is challenging if you're used to having nights and weekends protected. It's not uncommon to be on calls all day, so often times, the only time to do client work is on evenings and weekends. You come to find, this is more of the norm than the exception, so most accept it as part of how work gets done at Highwire. The pace of work is very fast. Often, the expectations of delivery and capacity are simply not realistic, which can cause burnout quickly if you're not able to get support from your manager. If you were to do a keyword analysis on Slack, "ASAP" and "Fire drill" would probably rank #1 and #2. Because new business is such a priority, senior leaders usually don't have time to devote to client or employee retention. As such, employee turnover is very high, especially with senior leaders. Seems 6-9 months is the norm for most. I think the overall lack of prioritization outside of arbitrary revenue targets causes many leaders to give up.

Pluspunten

- One of the few companies that have kept their DEI initiatives. - Hybrid schedule

Minpunten

Whew! Where do I start? - PR management seems to be fine, but if you’re on the digital side…good luck. - No clear career path. - This company is always hiring, but over the past year they’ve quietly laid off dozens of people. - There’s extreme favoritism. Some folks who leave on their own accord get a full send off and even a happy hour toast while I learned others were gone via a company-wide email sent after they had already left. - They don’t value humans. Ever since they got a holding company involved, it’s only about the bottom line. The company is bleeding money so they get rid of people to try to patch the wound. - The culture used to be great apparently, but in the last 2 years, it’s really gone downhill. - They keep PRing you like everything is fine, then another round of firings happen. You never know if you’re on the chopping block. Everyone is on edge all the time never knowing if you’re next. - Overworked, underpaid, zero guidance.
