LPK is one of the leading global brand identity firms and clients include top tier consumer package goods companies. The big benefit for LPK employees is the exposure to highly sophisticated brand teams and a cross-functional team of people. Design has become a highly sought-after business-building tool so LPK offers the chance to work on big brands in an integral manner. LPK has tremendous talent within its ranks from designers to brand strategists and one of the best experiences within that company (I was there for 18 years) was the diverse and intelligent group with whom I worked. I understand LPK has in the past 8 months undergone a complete overhaul of its management practices and from what I hear, there is great positive momentum. Thus it is a company that learns from its mistakes and tries to improve itself.
Minpunten
One of LPK's ongoing challenges is controlling growth and managing the top-heavy upper management structure. It is a very "political" climate; by that I mean that like many privately held firms, the management operates in an old school, old guard style that values traditional rather than progressive values. Additionally, the company tends to stereotype personnel based on a rather biased performance review system meaning that reviews have been known to be written to "support" a point of view rather than to reveal the true status of the performance.
