Laing O’Rourke like to talk a big talk, but they do not follow through on the ground. They are quite disorganized is some areas of the business. There is no connection between the values at the top and what happens on the job. It is frequently an unsafe environment. They do not care about their employees on the job, not one single dot. The things I have seen would leave most people feeling cold (and honestly, if we didn’t need the work, we would walk). I have seen people try, but no one can speak out as those who might are quickly disposed of. There is a real ‘shoot the messenger’ culture. It all creates a really unsafe environment. I am not at all surprised there are such high suicide rates in the construction workforce generally.
