Employees are chattel , which has never been more clear than through this pandemic. The ways in which the corporate entity, tucked safely away from the public and away from kids with developmental disabilities and no sense of personal space or boundaries, demands that people risk their lives for the measly salary they pay, the crumbs they allow to drop from their corporate profits, is borderline criminal. Furthermore, the condescension with which they treat their faculty is deplorable. At my center, most people have graduate degrees, yet the corporate shills behave as if we don't have a clue about pedagogy, how to work with children, or the English language. It's almost incomprehensible, honestly. Everyone is miserable. All of this with no consistent schedule or set hours on which to depend, just a constantly changing mess of dates and times.
