Where to start. There were some great people at Made Tech, all of whom have either left or been made redundant in 'botch job' attempts by an inexperienced HR team. Those who remain are part of the 'old boys club' or more liked by the exec and leadership team, rather than able to deliver anything - hence why the company is failing and share price is plummeting. The teams are generally delightful people, with 90% of us wanting to do good for society and make an impact but the exec and leadership teams are not aligned with our values. Values mean nothing and posts about diversity and inclusion are fake news. All the awesome diverse team members have been leaving in their droves because there is zero budget or effort put into this space. I have had the pleasure of working with many people who I have learned from and who have imparted valuable experience and they have all left. Learning is one of the values yet all learning and development pathways have been removed, along with any budget to support development. Line management varies depending on who you report into, again due to lack of any strategy in this area. There are no prospects.

Thanks for taking the time to review. I totally agree that we have genuinely delightful people here at Made Tech who are committed to our mission and our impact. I’m sorry to read you’ve not had a positive experience with us up to now. Our work to improve equality, diversity and inclusion at Made Tech is an important part of who we are but we accept that there are always areas where we can improve. In the past 12 months we’ve launched our first-ever apprenticeship programme, hosted our Blackathon event and delivered training sessions on a range of neurodivergent conditions, to name but a few. This is on top of the 100+ people we’ve already supported into a career in tech through our academies, we’re very proud of that. Work is already underway to understand how diverse Made Tech is now and what our priorities will be in the next 12 months, including the launch of our first ever charity partner of the year. On Learning and Development, it is painful to read that you’ve felt there are no prospects here. Providing the opportunity to learn and develop is core for us, especially given the consultancy nature of our business. We have made changes to our training budgets to make it less “one size fits all” and give more decentralised budget pots to take into account team and individual needs. Likewise, we’re soon to be rolling out new training to help level up and support our line managers across all capabilities, in their Community of Practice. I’d really welcome the opportunity to hear more about where you see the lack of alignment around values and anything else you’d like to share about your experience so far in your time here. Leading the Data and AI practice here means solving problems that actually affect citizens' lives - from healthcare efficiency to smarter government services. Engineering Excellence: There is a deep-seated respect for modern engineering principles (TDD, pair programming, and robust CI/CD). This makes me feel proud of the work our teams deliver because the underlying data foundations are built with quality in mind, not just speed. Radical Transparency: The Open by Default culture isn't just a slogan. From salary bands to the company handbook and even board-level decisions, the level of transparency is refreshing and builds a high-trust environment for leaders. Autonomy to Build: As a Practice Head, you aren't fighting red tape. There is genuine appetite for innovation in LLMs and data engineering, and the leadership team provides the runway to shape the roadmap authentically.

Consulting Pace: Like any high-growth consultancy, the pace can be intense. Navigating public sector procurement cycles alongside rapid-fire delivery requires a high level of resilience and stakeholder management. Maturing Processes: As the company scales, some of the internal startup-style processes are still catching up to the size of the organisation. It’s a work in progress, but it requires patience.
