Minpunten
Mecho used to be a nice place to grow and had a great working environment. After being acquired by Springs Window Fashions, and then later by another investor group, things started to go downhill, and morale is now at an all-time low. While the people at Mecho are great to work with, the higher-ups at Springs are completely out of touch with the day-to-day routine at the Queens location. Things that have been contributing for poor morale include: - Firing almost half its workforce in the first month of the pandemic, including loyal employees who had been there for decades - Various roles have been working twice as much after the downsizing - No longer a sense of a career plan, promotions are now nearly non-existent - In my experience, raises were rare and in the years when they did occur, they were way below inflation since the prior raise, which meant my adjusted pay went down every year - Cutting benefits such as the ability to leave early the day before a holiday - Insisting that every employee must return to the office full time at a time when commuting within the city was chaotic and unsafe, and Covid was still a huge safety concern in big cities (ironically, the company's top performing quarters coincided with the remote work period) - A significant drop in the amount and size of team building events (even before covid). I will say that if you're looking for something temporary to get your career started, this might be a good opportunity to get in touch with many different industries and big clients. Otherwise, it will likely remain a revolving door for the foreseeable future, so I wouldn't recommend it.
