A great place if your dream job is professional scapegoat.

Minpunten

Mercy talks about values, compassion, and dignity. What I experienced was the opposite. I was terminated without a single conversation, without notice, and without the chance to defend myself. The paperwork claimed I had been repeatedly coached, warned, and talked to about my performance. None of that ever happened. There were no metrics, no documentation, no conversations, just a blindside termination with made-up justifications, including an accusation of “time theft.” The truth is, automation in my department had significantly reduced the amount of manual work. There were long stretches of downtime where leadership gave no direction on what we should be doing instead. Cross-training was promised but never delivered, workflows were outdated and undocumented, and questions about expectations were brushed off or ignored. Instead of providing guidance or clarity, leadership left me without direction and then used that downtime against me as supposed evidence of underperformance. Quarterly check-ins were canceled more often than not, and “monthly” admin meetings were a joke. In my 2.5 years in the department, I recall only one, maybe two ever actually happening. The rest were canceled, including the entire series being dropped altogether with the official explanation given as “because another admin said so, lol.” That was the standard of professionalism. The most egregious issue was how Mercy handled pregnancy loss. Twice, in July 2024 and February 2025, I miscarried. Mercy policy clearly states that bereavement leave applies from the first day of absence. Instead, HR coded my time incorrectly and slapped me with attendance occurrences. Those occurrences were never corrected and were later used as part of the justification to terminate me. Think about that: losing pregnancies, and then being penalized for it by my employer. That’s not just an administrative error. It’s cruel. To make matters worse, when I raised these concerns, first to HR, then to leadership, and finally to the CEO, I was met with silence. My detailed letters outlining the lies in my termination paperwork, the mishandling of my leave, and the complete lack of due process have all been ignored. No one even acknowledged receiving them. Mercy doesn’t just fail its employees, it silences them.
