Where to begin? My friends often react to how I describe my love of my job with awe and envy. Much like our stock price, it's a unicorn career I never knew I could have. I truly mean this when I say, MongoDB is the last stop on my career train. I can't imagine myself anywhere else, here's why: -We are a start-up within a corporation. You have the freedom to innovate, to fail, to be autonomous in your decision making while in parallel having the support and structure of a corporation. -If you tap in on that high growth adrenaline, this is the place for you -We're a calming competitive culture. The best way I can describe it is the feeling you have when you first get to your college campus. You're surrounded by some of the most intelligent people you've ever met, yet everyone wants to help each other and see each other succeed. -Diversity in intellect. For me, it's the diverse thinking I experience in each and every meeting, project, 1:1, etc. No one person solves problems or thinks alike, that is done on purpose. -Leadership transparency. You will ALWAYS know the "why". It's up to you to get curious and take action from there. -Fun. Honestly people at MongoDB are just fun. They have a sense of humor, they love a work/life balance, and everyone has such unique interests. -Growth opportunities are endless. Which is why I'll restate, MongoDB is my forever career. Who knows where I'll end up, but I can tell you it will be somewhere in this ever-evolving high performing company. -Product. I have never worked with such a sound product, diligent engineering teams, or visionary PMs. Promoting and supporting a product you believe in makes each day a dream.

These aren't necessarily cons for me, but I do think if you don't jive with any of these fundamentals this may not be the best fit: -High growth mentality - we move fast, we iterate quickly. This means that there will be change, there will be aggressive deadlines, there will be multiple projects in parallel, and the expectation is that we deliver the highest standards. If you're looking for slow and steady, this may not be the best pace. -Ambiguity. With much independence comes much responsibility. We are not a culture of micro-managing meaning there will be some ambiguity in navigating your daily tasks. We help shape your big rocks and give meaning top down to your work, but you will need to build the actions and steps in motion from there. If you need a step-by-step manual, this may not be your place.
