Pluspunten
Flexible hours. Typists generally free to work a lot or a little in the hours they choose. Generally speaking, there is consistent availability of work. If you're entry-level and don't mind the low pay, it's a good place to start.
Minpunten
Recently eliminated pretty much all straight typing positions, now calling them 'editors' instead, thereby justifying a reduction in pay rates. They now use a proprietary platform and voice recognition software to create a 'draft.' Many of their clients have such poor audio that the draft is worthless, riddled with errors, and it's faster to just wipe out the draft and start over. So now you're still a typist, just making 40% less than before. They wouldn't even grandfather in the pay rates for folks who had been working for the company for years before the buyout. Before VIQ bought out Net Transcripts, it was a great place to work. Now you're basically just a warm body in a chair to them (typical big-corporate outlook), and completely replaceable.
