Pluspunten
I absolutely loved working here for the summer. The kids were amazing, just a phenomenal group of young people, and I got on so well with the other teachers and admin staff. Such a pleasure to work with them, always helpful and chatty. I never even met Michele, who organises the teachers from the US, apart from on Zoom but she was lovely and very informative and responsive. The atmosphere is vibrant and joyful, and teachers are given a lot of freedom with classes and activities with the kids. I asked the kids what they wanted to do during the trip to London, we did exactly what they wanted and they COULD NOT BELIEVE it. So joyful. I couldn’t go back the following year as I needed to be in Cambridge for my own studies, so I taught with another group. Perfectly fine but nothing like the experience I have with OAP.
Minpunten
For the most part the other teachers were at the top of their game, really positive and fascinating to chat to. But there were a few who were, how can I put this… scoffing, eye-rolling graduates who complained constantly about things like having to set up their own projector, or deciding it was too hot to teach. They were very much a minority but they were a real downer.
