Pluspunten

I started at Newton when we were seven people sitting in a room, selling and supporting applicant tracking software. In the last five years this company has grown significantly in its own right along with the help of our parent company Paycor, through our acquisition. This is the best team that I have worked with in my career. We are a family that supports one another and we like to give each other a hard time with healthy doses of sarcasm. We have high expectations for ourselves, each other and our product. Sales, Success, Marketing and Product regularly work together to ensure we are providing the best experiences for our customers. You are not going to find flashy start-up offerings here. You will get a lot more out of working here than what you might find at your typical SF start up. (free food and kombucha? Foosball and ping pong?) No judgement if that is your thing, its just not what we value here. We value career growth, building better processes for our team and our customers, working hard and then leaving at a reasonable time at the end of the day.

Minpunten

We are still a bit siloed form our parent company. We are actively working on multiple points of integration on both a product and company level. Paycor tries but struggles with understanding what it means to be a software company in the Bay Area.

Minpunten

I wanted to like working at Paycor. The product has potential and the pitch during the interview process sounded promising. But the reality of day-to-day life here is a far cry from what's advertised. Micromanagement is rampant. Leadership tracks every minute of your day — from login times to bathroom breaks — yet somehow trusts no one to make even the smallest decision independently. You're treated like a number, not a professional. There's zero autonomy, and any attempt to take initiative is quickly shut down. The leadership team is deeply out of touch. Many managers got their roles through tenure, not merit, and it shows. They struggle to answer basic questions about the industry, lean on buzzwords in meetings, and consistently make decisions that anyone with relevant experience would know to avoid. When things go wrong, blame rolls downhill fast. The culture is toxic and cliquey. If you're not in the right social circle, advancement is nearly impossible. Favoritism is blatant, feedback is rarely constructive, and the "open door policy" is a joke — speak up and you'll find yourself quietly pushed out. The work environment doesn't help either. High turnover means institutional knowledge constantly walks out the door. Morale is low, burnout is high, and HR seems more interested in protecting the company than the employees.
