Driving a truck, being on your own...sort of. Get to look at all the new building in whichever state you reside. Can be really fun. Loved the job when I started.
Minpunten
Physical work. I'm not scared of physical work but pay for it. Class A driver that gets paid as a mediocre driver AND has to do physical work. You can make just as much or more doing less physical work. Company abuses its employees and not only drivers. All they care about is sales even if they have to hire people or drivers for a couple months to get the job done just to see them go. Management has no idea what actually goes on outside the warehouse. Apparently customer service is delivering to the same house three times a day with three different drivers because it's "customer service". Even though nobody is there except maybe builders who don't care and an order placed a week earlier. Dumb policies kill morale. Seriously driving 30 minutes out of the way for a single pack of shims in a tractor trailer that a sales rep could deliver in his own vehicle. Complaining because you had to stop to put chains on your truck. Management knowing absolutely nothing about trucks or DOT related. "Are you sure you can't drive back with cracked air lines?"
