Pluspunten

Apart from areas like Verification Processing and some of the other processing jobs, Redflex offers a challenging environment in which to work. There are numerous opportunities to expand skill-sets as long as you're not in the processing arms of the company.

Minpunten

The company is rapidly losing site of work/life balance for employees, and the CEO doesn't appear to take the issues of declining morale seriously (He stated he's not a proponent of morale building activities in a recent company-wide meeting). Senior leadership in most departments is in the habit of getting the way and not empowering employees, so people are afraid to take ownership of issues. The internal applications are aging and in some cases completely out of date, and the company doesn't seem to have a plan to move forward and modernize. We can't operate cameras on Windows XP computers forever. Benefits are not great. There are no incentive programs of any intrinsic worth for non-Sales employees. The company leadership sets goals annually, and then spends the rest of the year preventing them from being accomplished.

Pluspunten

Pay is okay. Plenty of work to do so the days go by quickly. Generally a quiet environment to work in. Nice sized desks with plenty of cabinet space. Training is pretty good and is on-the-job training which is what I prefer. Hands-off management approach is nice - as long as you're doing your job, your manager won't bother you, and in fact you'll hardly ever see him.

Minpunten

Bribery scandal has hurt the company's reputation and profitability very badly. Customers are leaving one after another and there are no new customers out there to replace them due to a general lack of enthusiasm for traffic cameras right now. As a result, there were two rounds of layoffs during the time I was there. Turnover is high due to the boring nature of the job, the bribery scandal, loss of customers and layoffs. Constant mandatory overtime week after week is ridiculous and very taxing on employees. There's very little chance to move up in the company if you're a Verification Processor because they don't want to lose anyone from this team because they know it's going to be very difficult to replace you because very few people want to do this type of work due to its tedious nature. The QA team is understaffed and overworked which makes this part of the job even worse since QA in this job is already very boring and tedious because you're not actually doing any processing yourself but are simply looking at videos of violations that someone else processed and approved.
