Pluspunten

Seriously relaxed environment with best work-life balance I've known. Sometimes the office almost feels serene. A lot is invested in training and development. You'll rarely be turned down when asking to attend a course or visit another office for knowledge sharing/skills exchange. Some intelligent, experienced people here & there who, once you've found them, you can genuinely learn from. People make life-long friends here & generally everyone is pleasant as compared with other workplaces. Company events may not be what they were but still better than at most businesses. Fun can be cringe-worthy but never feels forced. Start-up feel still remains in part, especially where things like bureaucracy are concerned.

Minpunten

Product-wise pace of change can be slow and given frequent strategic u-turns this means significant new features on-site or in-app are like hen's teeth. "Mobile-first" approach can seem more like "website-last". Some very talented younger employees who are given all the responsibility but none of the power of decision (or credit), placated with slight pay rises/ad-hoc bonuses, given better titles but never truly promoted. Questionable senior hires made in recent years in some areas with either gift of the gab and/or a protected status inexplicably granted by business leaders. A little too relaxed. Can feel like a creche for adults. Perfectly acceptable at times to turn up, eat some snacks, chat, do an hour's work and then go home. Company culture is going through a tough time as staff turnover has increased in recent years. When the free lunch arrives people literally run to get to it. When a company All Hands meeting is about to start you'd be forgiven for thinking the flooring was adhesive. Pay could be better but crucially should be more consistent and fair. People talk, and the differences can be large. With the exception of the Engineering team it's not a particularly multicultural employer considering this is London, something very noticeable for those who've worked elsewhere in this city.

Pluspunten

Gained hands-on experience building a full website using modern technologies like React, Node.js, and Firebase. Worked in a real team environment and collaborated with senior engineers and designers, which improved my communication and teamwork skills. Got exposure to a production-level development process, including working within structured systems and maintaining code quality

Minpunten

The internship was relatively short, so I didn’t get to work on as many long-term or large-scale projects as I would have liked. As an intern, I had limited ownership over major features, which sometimes meant less autonomy in decision-making. There was a learning curve with new tools and technologies, which took time to fully get comfortable with in the beginning. The pace of professional development was fast, which could be challenging while balancing the need to learn quickly and deliver high-quality work.
