SPANA is a lovely medium-sized charity where people are passionate about what they do. Its industrious and purposeful atmosphere is complemented by a sense of togetherness and the staff support one another to achieve common goals. Over the past few years, SPANA has become far more dynamic, purposeful and fair. Being over 100 years old, the charity is still dragging systems and processes that are currently being updated. Striving to implement a new ambitious strategy while reviewing organisational infrastructure, resources and global programming is bound to feel destabilising at times and frustrating to some but it is a crucial step change which requires time and careful handling. The current CEO is the best leader I have ever come across. She has a clear vision and an impressive background and experience which she generously shares with everyone in a charismatic and galvanising way. If you have good knowledge, attitude, and practice to offer while still being happy to learn new tricks, if you deliver quality and timely work and take responsibility when things don’t go as planned, and if you really want to make a difference in the world of working animal welfare, SPANA is the place to be.
