I've worked at Schellman for less than a year and my biggest regret is that I did not find this company sooner. It is a very flat organization where senior associates are critical to driving assessments/audits. There is more partner/manager interaction than I've experienced elsewhere in public accounting (7+ years of professional experience in 3 small/regional public accounting firms). The benefits are awesome but you can read about that in the marketing material on the website. The biggest difference here is that senior associates are treated like professionals and those that display unprofessional behavior are counseled, then let go if the behavior doesn't change. End of the day this is a professional services firm, so communication with the client and the team internally is the secret to success. I've never had anyone say no you can't come in late after a doctor's appointment or no you can't schedule PTO for that time. If something comes up and you let people know as soon as possible, people at Schellman treat you like a professional and a human-being. Deadlines are realistic. The overall climate here is that there are a lot of high-achievers and people push each other to improve. Never had a better job and hope to make a career out of it here.

Depending on your location, travel can be a lot the first year (but ask and the hiring partner will usually be able to give you an idea). If you are not a team-player and/or just looking to collect a paycheck and coast, then this is not the right company for you.
