Pluspunten

Disclosure: left position because of moving out of state in Autumn 2015. Great starting point in a career. Good benefits - you will get substantial time off, if you're able to take it. The PD or direct supervisor of your program will set the tone of your employment. I stayed because I LOVED who I worked for and the program they created. If I stayed in MA, I would still work for $14.01/hr just because of the environment. Working in mental health/social services has it rewards no matter the employer. If you need your "foot in the door" this is an ideal place to consider. You'll gain valuable experience and gleen the value of service work. Ton to learn. Easy to get employment.

Minpunten

Low pay - you'll be paid the least amount possible. Your job can be great or a nightmare depending on your PD. The corporate environment gives the impression that this non-profit is solely concerned with profit. Management support can be lacking. I do believe that most employees are in it for the good of the clients, there are too many who see it as just a job. If you have the pleasure of running a program, as long as you meet HRA, HHS, MPB, DMH goals you should enjoy unencumbered autonomy and success. If your contracts fail to meet target, you'll be scrambling and in meetings about boosting revenue. For relief staff, they'll hire anyone with a pulse. Degree differential is honestly laughable.
