Pluspunten

they're aren't many but working on race cars, meeting new people, traveling to race tracks in the united states.

Minpunten

where do I start? lets start with the pay, I cant even remember how many of my paychecks bounced or were delayed for lack of funds weeks at time. It is the whole reason i left the company. the hours are absurd, I was told when i was hired that if we were at home and not traveling we should get an hour for lunch and work 7-4, what a joke. this almost never happened. if you are traveling you will be driving unless you're going to Cali, you will be driving either a 15 passenger ford van or a busted ford dually with every possible warning lamp illuminated. usually they will need 4 vehicles and they are only sending 4 guys so that means, yupe, your driving the whole way with no breaks to Miami FL or Huston TX(16 hrs) then you get to go straight to the track to unload, because the event starts the next day with no buffer zone built in. not a single fleet transport vehicle has proper working A/C or heat. while traveling you will get assigned a roommate to share your hotel room with which was always a surprise and disappointment. if you are on track.. welcome to hell.. the company is too broke and cheap to rent separate track time so they often try to stack the classes up right before a race weekend which is idiotic. because the cars have to be repaired each night completely. I NEVER left the track on a race weekend before 10pm after arriving at 7am on track many hours before management who leaves by 5pm along with the instructors and customers, all these hours with no real break, rain or shine you're outside. they almost never have enough lunch catered not that you will have a chance to eat because "you need to get back on track." dinner while at an event wont be happening but dont worry you wont be able to leave to go get your own, around 9 enough people will have coplained about having half a sandwich for lunch at 12 that they will send someone to get you a dollar menu item from the local fast food place, always cold before it gets to you. one time i heard a member of management say "don't tell them the food here yet, its dark they cant tell you're back and they are working so good I don't want them to stop I don't care if they're hungry." as he was eating of course. you are expected to drive from the Rd Atlanta HQ to where ever the events are and unload all the equipment you just loaded on the car haulers and trailers a couple days prior. this doesn't sound bad but wait til you see the state of disrepair ALL their equipment is in. the hydraulic lift gates on the semi truck trailers never seem to work and you will always spend a good half hour just trying to get the gate down. the hydraulics leak so you will be loading a race car on the 3rd level of the semi truck and the hydraulics will start to fail the gate starts dropping off on one side and you're along for the ride. or course this will be in the dark, in the gravel, screaming over a generator, trying to back the car out. there's never enough staff because the company used to stand for something the name SKIP BARBER used to mean something, welp boys, those days are long gone. on four separate occasions the water was turned off for lack of payment at the shop, our dumpsters were repossessed and the trash situation got out of hand quickly, we were expected to work with no access to running water. not to mention how many times a convoy traveling home or to an event have been stranded at a pilot gas station bc the gas cards were declined. We could only use pilot's bc that's the only place they have accounts that occasionally get paid bc the truckers use them too. This place is a JOKE! they let everyone's health insurance lapse but was still taking the premiums out of our checks this went on for 3 months. I would never recommend a friend to work there nor would I recommend anyone take a class with them as they will surely mess it up in some way but if you do ask for a 40% discount you'll always get it. There's competing racing schools opening and I highly recommend you work for them instead.

Pluspunten

SOME of the people were really great to work with Small Company feel

Minpunten

No work life balance along with poor compensation. Management lacks professionalism towards all employees. Favoritism is highly practiced (cliques). All expenses are to be out of pocket with reimbursements taking months for them to process.

Pluspunten

Name recognition - people will get a kick that you work/worked at a racing school.

Minpunten

The company is in a tough spot with a poor financial situation, management for the most part that is out of state and relies upon a few key staff to keep everything running (who understandably cannot do so very well). The racing industry itself exactly been thriving as of late and relies upon a customer base with a certain level of household income that isn't growing either. Techs are far overworked (no overtime), paychecks have been more frequently delayed, services shut off because of bills unpaid, new parts cannot be ordered for cars. The key staff still there are doing so out of loyalty to the brand. There's also kind of a "boys' club" attitude as well that holds back the level of professionalism that's required, but they can't fire people because it's so hard to get decent workers with pay the way it is. Policies are written and then promptly made exception to constantly. You can draw your own conclusion as to how morale is.
