Pluspunten

I've always tried to work at places that are extremely mission driven and this place is basically the pinnacle of that! After doing mostly freelancing, I decided I wanted to throw myself into something and this job opportunity was the just the thing. I've always had a passion for space and now I could turn my programming skills into work to advance that cause. If you're looking to drink the kool aid, and/or for somewhere where your skills will be used to their fullest, SpaceX is the place for you. The interview process is tough, but they definitely don't waste your time with any of it, you can see why they do it all to get an impartial view of you as a candidate. No trick questions or people trying to lord their experience over me or anything, no ego, just, "can you do this?" They got back to me relatively quickly too, they're a big company with a lot going on, but I didn't feel forgotten during the process at all. The team I'm on is full of nice people, but even more importantly people who know how to get stuff done, and are all amazing at what they do. I've learned more here in 2 or 3 months than I've learned at some other companies I've been at for years! You can see the impact of your work very clearly here. They've been very accommodating and level headed with the COVID situation as well.

Minpunten

I know it sounds kinda contrived, but I really haven't encountered any cons yet - I suppose with the pandemic, I would've liked to be in the office more because it's very cool to be in a literal rocket factory, but that is definitely not a fault of the org itself!

Pluspunten

* **Unmatched Mission & Impact:** You are literally working on rockets and spacecraft. The cool factor is 10/10. * **Brilliant Coworkers:** You will be surrounded by some of the smartest, most driven engineers in the world. * **Insane Career Growth:** SpaceX on your resume is a golden ticket. You will learn more here in 3 months than in 3 years at a normal company. * **Hands-on Experience:** They actually trust interns with real, critical hardware. No boring coffee-fetching tasks.

Minpunten

**Cons:** * **Zero Work-Life Balance:** 70-80 hours a week is the norm, not the exception. Say goodbye to your social life and sleep. * **Extreme Burnout:** The "hustle culture" is toxic. You are expected to treat the company as your entire life. * **Mediocre Pay:** The hourly pay is average, especially when you factor in the insane hours and the high cost of living in LA/Hawthorne. * **Chaotic Management:** Decisions can change overnight based on whatever Elon Musk tweets or feels like doing that morning.
