Pluspunten

-There are still some top talent and good people at Tanium, you will be working alongside some of the most talented people in the industry. -Tanium does have unique technology and it does solve some very real-world security and endpoint management problems in a very unique quick way. -Pay and compensation is above industry average, but you will work very hard for your money. -If working in Tanium tech, your knowledge and skills will increase significantly, it has to! -Tanium Technology has improved over the years it is easier to implement and work with. -Tanium do have an excellent offering in Patch and Deployment (software delivery) often overlooked because many products (modules) are security focused and more in vogue. -Ask a question using Tanium tech and you will receive a very fast answer from all your endpoints around the world in very large infrastructures, it’s a very powerful tool. You can then swiftly take action against endpoints based on the answer you receive; it is an administrator and CISO’s dream. -There is a strong sense of team at Tanium and everyone does pull together, One team one fight is the mantra and it really is lived and breathed. -Training and onboarding are excellent (if not a bit full-on!) but you will have all the tools and knowledge you need to succeed at Tanium. -Immediate management are supportive and will step in and help. One team one fight. -They Trust staff to do the right thing, there is no micro-management. -Tanium culture was intimidating for a newbie.

Minpunten

-Strong competition and more advanced products in the market with much easier to consume and more compelling options are stealing the march on Tanium. Namely Crowdstrike, Sentinelone.. with 1E (an up and coming) providing a very compelling Tanium-esq workflow which is more user experience driven, it is advancing rapidly and might outpace Tanium with a more on trend vision. -Technical Account Managers are expected to do pretty much everything, pre-sales, develop opportunities, proof of concepts, instructor led training, escalation point as a subject matter in their region, full support i.e. all tickets and escalations, and then try and squeeze in a bit of TAM work. You will be spinning many plates, and in addition trying to balance sometimes impossible priorities and a big workload, it’s not for someone that is workshy that Is for sure! -The technology can be temperamental at times and upgrades do sometimes result in complex issues, you will need to know the technology to a deep level to understand problems when troubleshooting. -There is a Tanium Support team but they are quite a new addition to the business, the TAMs do full support for most large accounts. -A good job they have a new CEO in Dan, Orion desperately need to step aside, Orion was not a people manager or CEO material. Period. -IPO is something that’s on the horizon, some of the leaders (on undoubtedly healthy salaries) are likely protecting their position and own interests (at the expense of those around them) in order to ensure that they are around when the company IPO’s as it will be a big pay day for them. This has led to a bad leadership culture. To be a successful leader at Tanium, it’s apparent that you just need to do as you are told, not make a mistake, or risk your own position. -Staff are expendable in the mind of management, the Company has been making significant redundancies (April. ’22 to Feb. ’23) it is not a safe place to be, certainly as a newbie. Huge uncertainty about the future of the business and is clearly struggling in a tough financial period. It appears people are starting to leave of their own volition, why stay in a company where you could easily be sacked without warning the following day? -Tanium’s security products are mediocre compared to the competition, though do not overlook the fact that crucial data can be obtained easily from endpoint and then acted upon within the one platform, a big selling point. -Tanium has been named Forbes Cloud 100 great places to work. The great place to work award is arguably not deserved by Tanium, it was not a view shared by my colleagues. -To make the security products work (Threat Response) to their full potential a lot of time will need to be invested in analysing the data etc… but it is a very advanced product. -New products get all the limelight whilst products in much need of development are neglected. This is a common theme I guess in the industry but at Tanium it’s very noticeable. -Tanium Technology only really makes sense when you fully invest in it (buy a lot of modules), making it only really viable for big enterprises, at the small to medium level the investment needed in both time, money and effort does not make sense in comparison to other much easier alternatives.
