Minpunten
Out of bed at 5 AM for long drive to route. Back home around 7pm, Call customers for next day route, back in bed at 8pm so I can get back up at 5 AM. 2 to 3 6 days weeks a month. Zero home life with wife and family. Terrible maintenance on vehicle, as my truck broke down twice. Equipment constantly broke down and leaked harmful chemicals . Back pack leaked all over back and left me with burning skin that would last for 6 to 10 hours of pain. Even my had held computer was a piece of crap which need tech support daily. About the only thing that they provided me that worked was my work pants. I worked there for 5 months and I never really figured out how to mix the product correctly. Was attacked by one dog, and had to chase down one dog that bolted out of a back yard gate. HOT WEATHER in Phoenix made me miserable. I took over and the previous tech did such a terrible job (who can blame him) that a bunch of customers cancelled. If enough cancel, they pull your commission...in my case, the my entire commission. I worked 70 hours week that month and averaged under 7 dollars an hour. I learned later that some techs would drive up, sit in the truck, fill out the report and drive away without performing service. No wonder I had to perform so many extra services that I did not get paid extra for on others routes. Am I glad I tried it...Yes...it has taught me to appreciate my current cushy sales job that pays well and lets me spend time with the only people that matter...my family.
