Bleeding Edge Technology. IoT is becoming the future where all kinds of electronics are connecting. Fact is, anything electronic needs digital storage space. WD gets to play in that space to influence new innovative solutions both for consumer and enterprise. Both with HDD and SSD. One can work with the very talented people whose shoe soles are the ones that hit the ground when designing products. Patent potential galore. Paving the future for digital storage which will be apart of everyone and everything's life regardless.

WD has a history of downsizing every 6 months or so. From small scale (several dozens from an organization) to large scale (shutting down an entire site). Part of this stems from the fact that they've acquired so many companies in the past, that there is too much overlap. As a secondary side effect to this custom, WD is going through an enormous amount of growing pains. Process control, competing ideas for policy, Road Map consolidations, communication, re-organizations in leadership, etc. It's a lot to handle if one isn't used to it. Can't ever execute the same way twice. It's as though there are loads of brand new managers trying to compete for attention/recognition while a new world within WD is being created - or - seasoned managers where they've given up the fight and they're all set anyway. Sometimes I wonder who's actually doing the work. (all this feedback is with regards to my personal viewpoint within the enterprise business unit of WD).
